NOMAR!!!!

Nomar Garciaparra was arguably the most beloved Dodger during his short tenure with the Dodgers. So naturally he was celebrated for winning comeback player of the year with a pretty good looking bobblehead. This bobblehead is unique because this is one of the first bobbleheads that i had seen where the bat was being held away from the body in mid swing. The designers overcame the obstacle of boxing the bobblehead by allowing the bat to be unscrewed from the hand to insure that it would both fit in the box and not break.

This bobblehead is also unique in the amount of detail that was included. Nomar has alot of things that he wears that are very unique and that he is known for and the designers did a good job of inlcuding them. His red wristband on his elbow and his brown wristband on his wrist above the bat are two items that Nomar has worn throughout his career. He has also has the batting glove hanging out of his back pocket which i felt was a nice touch.

Another nice addition was the batting helmet. Instead of just putting a normal round batting helmet, they gave him a helmet that was modeled after the one he wore during the season with the vents on the side of the helmet. But this makes me wonder, if they were willing to place this much detail on the helmet, why wouldn’t they place any detail on the shoes. As you can see he is wearing the same clown shoes as Garvey and Izturis. But other then that, its a really good looking bobblehead, even the facial hair looks good.

Unfortunately for Nomar he was sitting out next to Cesar and Steve and met the same fate as them. He has faded to a somewhat light almost seasick looking color. But other then that this is one of the better looking bobbleheads in the collection.
